Thursday Nights Are For Jammin'...

Mike Duke jammin' at The Corner Cafe'!

Open mic nights, or jam sessions with open formats, can sometimes be a crapshoot...you never know exactly what's going to turn up. But at the "LogJams" @ The Corner Cafe, you can almost always count on some fantastic performances.

Hosted by the multi-talented duo of Chris Loggins, & Hokie Gjertsen...these jams quickly established themselves as one of the premiere live music events in the area. Attracting musicians from around the region, the jams have become showcases for seasoned & developing talent. With a multi-genre flavor, there's usually something to please just about anyone.

The best feature of all, in my opinion... is the collaborations that occur. Often the skill level of a participant is raised a few notches by simply acheiving the right mix of musicians on stage at just the right time. This is usually when the "magic" happens. I''ve seen people walk in from the street for their first time at the jam, and then stare in amazement at the quality of entertainment being provided. These jams are known for producing this effect quite often!

The LogJams have other unexpected effects as well. Establishing a comradery between musicians, encouraging & instructing younger players, and developing contacts for networking purposes have been a few I've witnessed.

The key to it's success has been the willingness of musicians & vocalists to come participate & to support orther artists as well. As long as this continues, thursday nights will always be for jammin' in El Dorado!
